Day 1B of the MSPT Golden Gates in Black Hawk, Colorado drew 155 entries, which along with Day 1A’s 139 brings the current field up to 294 with Saturday’s Day 1C still to go. After 14 levels of play, just 24 players bagged chips and none more so than Fernando Galvan, who led the pack with 366,500. That is a little behind Day 1A chip leader Jim Morrison, who bagged 402,000.

Galvan, who hails from Denver, is seeking his first MSPT cash. Outside the tour, he has amassed $39,716 in career earnings including a career-high $20,000 for finishing fourth in the 2016 Colorado Poker Championships Kickoff Event.

Rounding out the top five Day 1B stacks are Baskaiyel Baker (276,500) Rich Dixon (201,000), Griffin Malatino (181,500), and David Hass (161,500).

Others who punched their ticket to Day 2, albeit with middling stacks, were Nader Wahdan (153,000), Michael Campbell (121,000), Eric Maier (87,000), Travis Northrope (62,500), and the short-stacked Matt Sargeant (27,000).

Among those to try and fall on Day 1A were Bryon Devonshire, Kevin Boudreau, Cy Church, Nikki Nelson, 2016 MSPT Wisconsin State Poker champ Andy Rubinberg and four-time WSOP Circuit ring winner Scott Stewart.

All of those players and any new ones looking to get in action will have one last chance to do so as the final flight will kick off at Noon local time on Saturday. We’ll be providing live updates greatest straight from the floor of the MSPT Golden Gates, so be sure to join us then.
