Day 1B of the $1,100 Cleveland Poker Open, the first MSPT ever held in Ohio, attracted 182 entries to JACK Cleveland Casino. Along with 1A’s 111 entries, it’s created a 293-entry field with 1C still to go.

After 16 levels of play on Friday night, the field was whittled down to 24 players with Marblehead, Ohio’s David Michael (pictured) and his stack of 366,000 leading the way. That is barely ahead of Day 1A chip leader Frank Lagodich, who bagged 364,500.

Others to bag healthy stacks on 1B were World Series of Poker bracelet winner Adam Friedman (320,500), Robert Golden (315,000), Randall Brooks (308,000), and Luke Edwards (262,500), who round out the top five.

Others to advance from the 1B flight were Michael Ermie (193,000), Divyesh Patel (137,000), Cooper Wanty (112,000), John Michalak (94,500), Joe Ebanks (69,500), Andy Spears (64,000), and the short-stacked Edward Mogilnicki (41,500).

Once again, the field was a healthy mix of local players and MSPT regulars. Among those to try and fall on Friday were MSPT Season 7 FireKeepers champ Mike Shanahan, Kimo Sabe Mezcal MSPT Season 8 Player of the Year Chris Meyers, Milwaukee’s Paul “Big Daddy” Elfelt and Michael Miller, Buffalo’s Dan Wagner, MSPT Season 4 Player of the Year Pat Steele, and poker pros Nick Guagenti and Troy Sprungl.

Those players will have one more opportunity to play the third and final flight will get underway at Noon local time on Saturday. The surviving players from each flight will then return at 11 a.m. on Sunday to play down to a winner.

We can also confirm that several others who flew in for the event will be in action on Day 1C including MSPT Season 6 Player of the Year Mark Hodge, Colorado pros Drew Schulz and Sammy Aweida, and New York’s Keith Block.

Join us tomorrow as we continue to bring you all the action and eliminations straight from the tournament floor of the JACK Cleveland Casino!
