After calling a 300,000 chip bet pre-flop, the board came out . Sun decided to move his entire stack into the middle and Kenneth Baime snap-called putting his tournament on the line. Sun turned over but found himself dominated by the of Baime.

Sun started calling for a four which didn’t come on the turn but then the miracle hit the river giving him the hand. Sun was the overall chip leader headed into Day 2 and he managed to turn it into $71,945 and the title of Majestic Star Casino Main Event Champion.

Baime, the Day 1a chip leader, settled for second place and will take home a well-deserved $44,415.

Congratulations to our tournament champion - John Sun!

Choppy Waters

Ken Baime (L), John Sun (R)

The action is about 150 hands in, and nearly a quarter of that has been heads-up play. John Sun and Kenneth Baime, the Day 1a and Day 1b chip leaders coming into Day 2 here at MSPT 154, are being mostly cagey and careful. Very few showdowns have occurred, with most action being bet-call preflop and a bet taking down the flop action. However, on one particularly interesting hand, things got a little weird.

Baime made it 200,000 to go and Sun called from the big blind. The flop came , which Sun checked. Baime bet 250, and Sun called.

The turn brought . Once more Sun checked and this time Baime bet 375,000. Sun called.

The on the river slowed things down and both players checked.

Sun:
Baime:

Both players had Two Pair, Queens and Tens, with an Ace to ultimately split the massive pot, one of the rare showdowns in this head-up battle.

Sun has around 5 million in chips, with Baime taking the remainder.

Baime Stays Alive
Created (8/18/2019 9:45:50 PM by Admin System)

Kenneth Baime just managed keeps his hopes of his second MSPT win at Majestic Star Casino alive.

Baime found himself all-in for his last 785,000 chips on a holding on a flop against the of John Sun. Sun picked up a straight draw as well along with his flush draw when the hit the turn. But the rolled off on the river and Baime picked up a much needed double-up.

As we head into the break, Sun leads Baime 4,660,000 (78 bb) to 1,820,000 (47 bb).

Greg Geller - 3rd Place ($32,216)

The man from Colorado came up just short from preventing the two flight leaders from a heads-up showdown.

Greg Geller moved all-in for his remaining 1,200,000 chips but was instantly called by a rejuvenated John Sun. Sun turned over to lead the of Geller. Geller nearly caught up with the board showing as looked to hit a flush but the came on the river ending his tournament sending Sun and Kenneth Baime heads-up for the title.

Anthony Kastelic – 4th ($23,771)

Anthony Kastelic is the fourth place finisher in this weekend’s MSPT 154 from Majestic Star in Chicago, Illinois, as he was knocked out by Greg Geller.

After Kenneth Baime made it 125,000, Kastelic pushed all-in over the top from the small blind. But Geller in the big blind cold reraised all-in himself, pushing Baime out.

Geller:

The board ran out , and Kastelic leaves the Main Event final table. Geller pushes up around 2 million.

Cheryl Choon Eliminated In 5th Place ($17,828)

Cheryl Choon – 5th ($17,828)

Cheryl Choon is our 5th place finisher here at MSPT 154.

Choon took a big hit in a hand versus Greg Geller, where her flopped 2-pair lost to Geller’s flopped King-high straight. That put her down below 400,000 A few hands later, Kenneth Baime put the end to her run in the Main Event.

Choon went all in for 315,000 and both Baime and Geller called. The flop came out and after Geller checked Baime moved all-in to put the pressure on Geller. Too much pressure, as it turned out, and Geller folded. Then both remaining players revealed their holdings.

Choon:
Baime:

The turn provided some outs for Choon... none of which came with the river . Choon hits the rail as Baime continues his thunderous pace, with nearly half of the chips in play four-handed.
