Brehme and Shing Lead The 31 Survivors Of Day 1B
Created (5/28/2023 1:59:58 AM by Liam Gannon)

After 16 levels of play, the starting field of 270 was reduced to just 31 players, each one of them guaranteed a piece of the $400,000 guaranteed prize pool that will be played for on Monday, May 29th. With the total number of entrants sitting at 457, the guarantee has been met and the players tomorrow will only add to the ballooning prizepool.

Leading the way is David Brehme who bagged 545,000. Newcomer to the MSPT circuit, Brehme found himself knocking out a lot of players along his day’s journey, including MSPT champion James Romero. The young man hailing from the U.K. looks to top his biggest live score in this tournament. Another big stack at the end of the night was Philip Shing who found himself with 509,000 at the end of the night. With over $1.8 million in lifetime earnings on Hendon Mob, Shing’s first MSPT looks to be a big one.

Not all were as fortunate, as the day saw the fall of many regulars including MSPT champions John Dennehey, Kyna England and Umut Ozturk, as well as others like Mark Seif, Ralph Massey, Dakotah O’Dell, Dylan Linde, and Shannon Shorr. 2006 WSOP Main Event Champion Jamie Gold tried his shot in the field, but was unable to find any bag at the end of it all. They will have ample opportunity to buy in the following two flights for their journeys to grab a piece of MSPT history. Day 1B and 1C begin on Saturday and Sunday at 11:10 AM respectively.

Play ended with 30:11 left on the clock in level 16 with blinds at 3,000/6,000 with a 6,000 big blind ante meaning unless another flight ends earlier than this one, they will return at this level at the beginning of Day 2 where they will already be in the money.
