Grigor Hakobyan Takes Overall Chip Lead into Day 2

Day 1c of the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) JACK Cleveland $1,110 Main Event attracted another 539 runners, which, along with 1a's 237 and 1b’s 380, brought the field total up to 1,157 entries.

The 1,175 total tally was able to re-claim the top spot for most entries in a Major poker tournament in a Ohio casino, and the $1,119,820 prize pool that was generated went down in the history books as well.

At the end of the final flight, just 68 players bagged and tagged with Grigor Hakobyan bagging the top stack of 785,000, leading the charge into Day 2.

Following hot on Hakobyan’s tail were Kevin Kerchenski (715,000), & Matthew Eng (702,000), while MSPT champ Curtis Vierstraete (610,000), and Steven Caran (604,000) rounded out the top five stacks.

They were joined by MSPT Season 14 Player of the Year Umut Ozturk (461,000), MSPT champ’s Abdul Amer (432,000), & Richard Bai (331,000), AJ Rudolph (318,000), and Chad Stone (234,000).

Among previous MSPT Main Event champs who fell short one Day 1c included Dan Bekavac, Gerald Cunniff, and Ben Pettinger.

Day 2 will get underway at 11:15 a.m. local time and play to a winner with 146 players (30 from Day 1a, 48 from 1b, and 68 from 1c) returning to the felt.

The top 117 finishers will get paid at least $2,127, with the eventual winner walking away with a $204,427 first-place prize.

All who make it through until the end of play will return tomorrow, Sunday, February 24h, at 11:15 a.m. for Day 2, where the remaining players from all starting flights will combine and play until a winner is declared.

Farhad Guyuron Walks Away Top Senior

The Mid States Poker Tour (MSPT) returned to JACK Cleveland Casino and hosted a $300 NLH Seniors Event that saw 33 entries build a $84,252 prize pool that paid out to the top 36 seniors.

Among those to cash but fall before the final table were Leonid Shuster (10th Place - $1,370), Jeff Wilson (13th Place - $1,095), and Christina Armeni (16th Place - $930).

Coming out the top was Farhad Guyuron who took home the MSPT trophy and $16,000 top prize!

Zickefoose Wins Race to Drop Dowdy

Ryan Zickefoose raised from middle position and found one caller before Ronnie Dowdy squeezed for 121,000 from the hijack.

Action folded back to Zickefoose who went over the top giving him isolation.

Dowdy was racing for his tournament life but couldn’t take the lead as the runout ended his Main Event.

Sultan Rivers Straight to Stay Alivve

Robert Long raised from the hijack and was called by Greg Harris from the small blind before Ahmed Sultan squeezed his 41,000 stack in the middle from the big blind.

Only Long called, and the two players tabled their hands.

Sultan was at risk needing help and found some after the flop gave him an open-ended straight draw.

The turn wasn’t a card Sultan wanted to see but the river was as it completed his straight and secured his double-up.

The MSPT Heads to Riverside Casino March 14th - 17th!

For the first time this season, the MSPT is headed to Riverside Casino in Riverside, IA from March 14th - 17th!

A series of $70 and $265 satellites will feed into the $1,110 buy-in MSPT250 Main Event, which requires players be 21+ to play.

The tournament, which boasts a $300K GTD, will offer three starting flights with Day 1a beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 14th.

Day 1b will take place at the same time on Friday, March 15th, with Day 1c following suit on Saturday, March 16th.

The surviving players from all starting flights will return at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 17th, to play down to a winner.

Also, on that Sunday, there will be a $360 NLH Last Chance Showdown Event beginning at Noon.
